A one night only showing of the renowned Blahslavian artist Sergio Latrino (Latrine-oh). The first, and perhaps last time, in Seattle! This event will be part of First Thursday in Pioneer Square so you can see Latrino and over 30 other shows in a five square block area.

    ABOUT THE EVENT

A rare, one day retrospective featuring the wide ranging and strange work of the Blahslavian artist Sergie Latrino (pronounced Latrine-oh). Most of this work has been pre-sold in private showings. However Mr. Latrino and several patrons have mounted this retrospective as a chance for the general public to experience his work. The show includes installation pieces, paintings, manipulated photography, sculpture and participatory pieces. Some even allow the viewers to automatically create the artwork while attending the gallery.

    MEET THE ARTIST

    SERGIO LATRINO

Sergio Latrino (pronounced Latrine-oh) is an interdisciplinary artist who has gained infamy for his irreverant view of the world of contemporary art. As one critic noted, "As serious art, Mr. Latrino's work can only be called undescribable. But it is fun!"

At the forefront of a new movement called Thoughtless Conceptualism Mr. Latrino places ideas over aesthetic concerns but insists that these ideas not be taken to seriously. As Sergei once said, "the most thoughtless ideas can make you think."

Sergei also champions a new concept that he calls "Maximum Minimalism," insisting that patrons don't get enough for their money with regular minimalism.

Rejecting the role of the patron and gallery attendee as merely viewers some of his pieces are participatory and even allow the viewers to create the artwork itself.

Born in the tiny country of Blahslavia, Sergio has gradually increased what he calls his "sphere of ridiculousness" to greater Europe and the United States.
